For any turning chains you can use your favorite alternative if desired.

Gauge
One section of the pattern (ch 2, 4 st, ch 2, 2 st) X (tr row, dc row, 3 sc rows) = 2in/5cm X 1.5in/4cm as seen in the below picture. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If the gauge does not match try using a different size hook.
