Keep the fresh Spring time feeling in the home with a beautiful, bright display of daffodils.
I have used DK weight Acrylic yarn and 3mm hook to make daffodils measuring approximately 4.5” in diameter (measuring the petals tip to tip) and 2” deep (measuring from front of trumpet to base of petals), the stem can be any length you choose.
You can change the size of your daffodils by using different yarn weights. Use a hook size a little smaller than the recommended for yarn size to keep the stitches tight, making the pieces stiffer.
As a guide, using Worsted/Aran weight yarn and a 4mm hook would make daffodils approximately 5.5” wide by 2.5” deep. Using Bulky/Chunky yarn and a 5mm hook would measure approximately 7” wide by 3” deep.
You will need:
A light Yellow or Cream colour for the petals
A dark/bright Yellow or Orange colour for the corona (inner cup/trumpet part)
Green yarn for the stem
Garden wire (heavy duty)
Yarn needle
Scissors
