Although this project starts in a similar center-out way, we’re going a little longer with this one to ideally add a bit to its function and versatility.

Will there be buttons? Oh yeah, lots of buttons.

Spring Feverish III pairs an exaggerated garter-stitch tab (if you’re used to the traditional shawl setup, this one will be huge) and a classic motif for a light, airy fabric.

The sample is shown in Valley Yarns Colrain Lace in Dark Teal, but luxe sock yarns should make an excellent substitute. From my perspective, an ideal yarn for this project would be a singles-spun pure wool, which will fill out the pattern a little more nicely.

(You can get by with 8-12 buttons, but 16 buttons make 8 pairs and correspond to the single eyelets on the smallest version’s shorter sizes)

Materials:

  • 350-700 yards Valley Yarns Colrain Lace or similar fingering-weight yarn
  • 1 24-48” circular needle in US4-5/3.5-3.75mm, or size needed for gauge. (Work is both flat and in the round; you may want intermediate needle lengths if you don’t want to use magic-loop style techniques.)
  • crochet hook (2.25mm or preferred size for yarn)
  • scrap yarn for provisional cast-on
  • Tapestry needle
  • 4+ removable stitch markers
  • 16 buttons sized to suit eyelets
  • needle and thread to suit buttons, if needed

Gauge:
Gauge is 22 sts and 34 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked garter stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge!
