Spring Feverish 4: Garter Stitch Kerchief
It can also be purchased in a set with the other 3 Spring Feverish patterns for $15.
Spring Feverish 4 is the final pattern in the series! I’d only planned three, so it’s a bit of an extra. This .PDF for personal use includes two different variations on the same classic kerchief. The original (included) is a purl-free project!
It’s a simple kerchief in squishy garter stitch, but knit at gauge, it’s sized to be worn as a cowl/kerchief or a headwrap.
I knit the original in chain-plied sport-to-DK weight handspun (Malabrigo Nube, colorway Mostaza), and would totally recommend this as a handspun project; it does a nice job of showing off color transitions, doesn’t take too much yardage despite the dense garter, and ends up being really nice and squishy in merino.
Gauge is 16 sts and 38 rows in 4” of garter stitch, blocked.
Gauge is pretty important to the fit of these kerchiefs, in that if the gauge is any smaller your project might be too small to wear. Be sure to check your gauge. Recommended needle sizes are just a starting point--please check gauge and use the needles you need as an unique individual; they will definitely vary!
To knit this kerchief, you’ll need:
-about 110 yards of soft sport to dk weight wool yarn
-straight knitting needles, or a circular for flat knitting, in US8/5.0, or size to knit gauge
-tapestry/yarn needle for finishing
-2 5/8” buttons, and sharp needle and thread if they’re necessary with the buttons you chose
-3 to 5 stitch markers
This pattern can be purchased alone or as a set with the other Spring Feverish kerchiefs; when purchased as a set, the discount is automatic when all four patterns are in your cart!
