Spring Fling Scarflet
The concept is a light-weight lacy scarflet (not a real word, but perhaps it will catch on?) worked in linen or cotton, with a pattern that can be easily adjusted for that special skein of DK or Fingering Weight yarn, with a substantial drape. The sort of thing you can just wrap once around your neck to keep the summer chill off in those breezy evenings.
The pattern is written for 166m of worsted/aran weight yarn but can easily be worked in a lighter weight. I’ve used 6mm needles for an open fabric and would recommend using 4.5mm for DK and 4mm for fingering/4ply. The lighter your yarn, the narrower the scarf will be, so for DK I would recommend continuing the increases until you’re at 36 or 40 sts (the pattern has to be worked over a multiple of 4), and for fingering/4ply I would suggest 48/52 stitches. However, please do a swatch of the lace panel to determine you’re happy with the width.
Have fun!
