Spring Frost Shawl
Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.
A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!
- No Code – Full Price = $10.00 CAD
- PK10 – 10% off = $9.00 CAD
- PK20 – 20% off = $8.00 CAD
- PK30 – 30% off = $7.00 CAD
I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.
The Spring Frost Shawl is a lovely, lightweight spring shawl, perfect for the months when the weather starts to warm up and you only need light layers! The shawl is full of delicious texture with the garter, and drop stitch sections. The criss-cross drop stitches add an extra fun touch! I designed this to be a smaller shawl since you don’t need as much bulk in the spring weather, but have also included a modification for a larger size!
Yarn Required
Any DK/light worsted weight yarn you can get gauge with.
I used The Frosted Stitch - Deep Freeze DK (75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon, 100g/245 yds) in Bouquet (part of her Picnic Collection). Kits are available through her site, discount code included in the pattern!
Yardage Required:
Standard Size: 2 skeins or ~174 grams / 424 yards
Larger Modification: 3 skeins or approximately 265 grams / 650 yards
Yardage is an approximation at this point and is based on my sample and my test knitters.
Finished Size:
Standard Size: ~ 58-60 inch wingspan, ~17 inch depth
Larger Modification: ~ 85-90 inch wingspan, ~23 inch depth
Note: Dimensions may differ depending on your yarn choice and how much you block out the garter/drop stitches. Some testers final wingspan dimensions were a bit larger than my sample as their yarn blocked out more.
Needles:
Circular Knitting Needles
4.5 mm / US 7, 32” or longer cord
I used Kollage Square circular needles, which are ergonomic and have really nice sharp points!
Gauge:
20 sts x 24 rows = 4 x 4 inches
stockinette, worked flat, blocked
Gauge is not crucial for this test knit, since the size can be a bit bigger/smaller and it won’t really affect fit like a garment, but you should try to get close to this so your yardage and size wont be too off!
