Spring is a time that can be best described as magical. During the cold winter months, plants stay dormant, waiting for the day they can show themselves to the world. When that day comes, you see a sea of different colors. From vibrant reds of spectral purples, there are an almost endless selection of colors. There are a myriad of different kinds of flowers that make their appearances known as well.

Roses are one of my favorite flower, but there is a such a mystic beauty of Irises. I see hem most a the Japanese Gardens in my area. They aren’t a round shape like most are and have a wide range of colors, purple being my favorite. It was the different shaged flower and the rich colors that inspired Spring Iris.

This pattern is created using short rows to give it a more obtuse shape, mesh to give it a feel of openness. Finally the colors were pulled from the vibrant colors seen in those gardens. Originally knit out of wool, good for a light weight fall night. Or knit it of silk for more summer night to keep the slight chill at bay.

Materials
Approximately 764-850 yards of fingering weight yarn.

1 skein each color: Abstract Fiber (100% Superwash Merino, 382 yards per skein)
Colors Used: Huckleberry(MC) and Chartreuse (CC)

Skill Level: 3 out of 5

-Near the end of the pattern the number of rows be- tween MC and CC will become asymetrical. If you are so inclined to make them symetrical, go ahead, howev- er you may run out of yarn if you do so.

-I am a tight knitter, so most of my projects use less yarn then recommened. If you tend to run out of yarn or would like to ensure you have enough, please buy more of the MC.

-You can knit with a sport or DK weight, use a needle appropriate for the yarn weight you choose.
