Spring is Coming Mitts
Polska wersja przetestowana i sprawdzona, już dostępna :)
End of winter - a perfect time of the year for fingerless mitts – when the temperatures rise above the freezing point, the sun begins to shine, the wind is no longer freezing cold. It is still cold enough to cover your hands and yet not as cold that you wouldn’t let your fingers free!
The mitts are fun to knit and even slightly addictive. They made a few testers stay up much later than they had planned ;)
Size: one size, fits an average woman’s hand. The mitts measure approx. 6.5’’ / 16.5cm unstretched around the palm just above the thumb, to fit a hand 7 – 8’’ / 18 – 20cm around at this point.
Size can be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by changing the yarn weight and adjusting the needles accordingly.
Level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate. The mitts are knit in the round. The pattern uses long-tail cast on, cabling, very basic lace.
Needle size: US 2 ½ / 3mm DPNs or circulars if you prefer the magic loop method. Two cable needles, 3 stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder, tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Gauge: 20 sts and 27 rows in stockinette with US 2 ½ / 3mm needles = 10cm (4in). I knit rather loosely so you may need to go up a needle size (or two) to get the gauge. Remember that the size of mitts depends on the gauge, if you want the mitts larger, the gauge should be one or two stitches smaller, and if you want the mitts smaller, the gauge should be one or two stitches bigger.
Yarn suggested: 50 grams of any worsted weight yarn that meets the gauge, wool if you want the mitts very warm.
