Spring Sprouts
It’s March and Spring has sprung! Daffodils are up and the birds are singing again! Yay!
For March, I altered a “grass” stitch pattern to make it look less like a chevron pattern and more like new leaves. My pattern has a multiple of 22 stitches with a 12-row repeat. For a single, vertical column of Spring Sprouts, work the first 11 stitches only of right-side rows and purl the wrong-side rows.
Note: I included optional set-up and top rows to prevent partial sprout motifs at the bottom and top of my swatch. If you prefer a continuous pattern, ignore these optional rows.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SSK and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
70 yards of Koigu KPM yarn will make 10 inches of a 44-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
