If you prefer to work a regular chain, chain to the specified stitch count + 2, turn and hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across so you end with the specified foundation count

Cluster (CL) – (yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook)4x all in same stitch, yo and pull through remaining 5 loops on hook

Leaf Stitch (LS) – (2 dc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) in same st
