“Spring turns into summer” is a shirt with a spring side and a summer side. Its neckline is shaped the same way for back and front, so you can wear it from both sides, depending on your mood.

The shirt is worked bottom-up, in 2 pieces, because the twisting of colors in the middle of the contrast color row requires this. It is easy to work, but never gets boring because of the frequent color changes.

Choose bright springlike and summerly colors which you have always admired, but normally would not dare to use on a shirt – they will get dimmed by the neutral background color.

This is a great project to use up matching leftovers – or treat you with a kit (e.g. a fade set) by your favorite hand dyer.

For my sample in size M, I have combined a kit Skudderia Merino Baby (100% Merino, 440m/ 100g) hand-dyed by the talented Skudderia, consisting of 6 colors of 25g each, with 150g of neutral color.

Yarn
Approx. 1020/ 1120/ 1220/ 1320/ 1420 m of a Light Fingering weight needed which has some elasticity.

• Approx. 2/5 of it (420/ 460/ 500/ 540/ 580 m) of the amount in main color (MC) (inxl. 20m for edgings)
• and 3/5 of it(600/ 660/ 720/ 780/ 840 m) in 4-12 matching contrast colors (CC).

Gauge
27 sts x 45 rows in “3+2 stripes” pattern (this would be 28 sts x 40 rows in Stockinette) with needle 3,0mm.
If you can’t get gauge, calculate how many stitches you will need for the desired width and start. This pattern is so straightforward that it can be worked by using measurements only, see measurements image.
Worked at a gauge of 25 sts, the shirt will get approx. one size bigger.

The shirt is intended to be a little bit oversized.
