Spring Will Bloom Hat

This pattern is available for free from Knitty!
You’ll need a worsted weight yarn and a strand of lace weight mohair for the main color, and about 10-12 yards/9-11 meters of two other colors for the leaf and flower motif.
The flower motif is knitted as you go, not embroidered later…and it’s easier than it looks.
Yarn:
- Worsted weight wool and a lace weight mohair, held together for main color. Approximately 90-130 yards each, depending on size chosen.
- Two scraps approx 10-12 yards/9-11m each, for the leaves and flowers. DK will make more subtle flowers, worsted weight will make more pronounced flowers.
Notions:
- Size 7 needles. I prefer 16” circulars for hats, with double pointed needles to finish the crown.
- Stitch marker to mark beginning of round.
Yarn substitution ideas:
- Kraemer Yarns Naturally Nazareth
- Malabrigo Mohair
- Universal Yarns Lush Mohair (This is discontinued but might be in stashes. It’s slightly thicker so it will make a stiffer fabric, but that’s fine.)
- Handspun alpaca or wool, Berroco Ultra Alpaca, Kraemer Yarns Tatami Worsted for the flower bobbles
