Springish
Each year in the spring, I’m delighted to see the shoots pop up through the snow and frozen earth to blooom anew. This green hand dye reminded me of those breathless moments of delight when I see the first blooms in the yard…and this year, spring is coming a bit late! We’ve had quite a bit of snow this year, so it’s really just been spring…ISH, not a true spring just yet.
This pattern is knitted center/top down/out and starts with a textured tab. The lace work is inspired by a collection of vintage patterns and pieces. It drapes nicely over the shoulders with the double cable spine increase columns, and this makes for a lovely drape without the bulk.
I knitted this with one skein of Kimmet Croft Merino Lite (550 yds) and I even have a bit left over! :) The large stockinette sections are great for tonal and hand dyed yarns, and the lace portions add enough interest to keep the knitter engaged.
