Springs is a simple structure but looks dynamic and razzmatazz-y. A voluminous shawl worked in Warm Moonshine (2 different colours – three skeins in Colour 1 and one in Colour 2). Effectively you are knitting a long wide scarf in blocks of colour stripes scattered with rows of ‘little springs’. Buttonholes are created along one edge and corresponding buttons added to make the long scarf into a poncho. This can be worn as a kooky shoulder-hugger (creating a diamond shawl) or with the buttons down the front to create a flowing waterfall poncho-top. The ‘springs-pattern-repeat’ in meditative and relaxing to work.

YOU WILL NEED 4 x 100g WARM MERRY O, 4ply, 311m/100g, 50% Superwash Merino, 50% Silk In sample: 3 x Colour 1: grey, 1 x Colour 2: blue 3.5mm needles (or 3.5mm 60cm circular needle - worked forwards and backwards) + 5mm needle for cast-on and cast-off + Sewing-up needle Buttons: 8 x 1.5cm

ABBREVIATIONS k: knit | p: purl | R: row | st/sts: stitch/stitches
k2tog: k2 sts together as one (decrease)
dyo: double yarn-over, starting at front of work pass yarn over needle to back, repeat. So effectively you have created two loops over needle. When you reach a yo on next row, work as directed. This should create a hole. yo: as above but wrap yarn over needle once, not twice

GAUGE : 22sts and 26 rows in stocking stitch per 10cm on 3.5mm needle

SIZE: finished measurements when washed and blocked: Width 78cm, Length 204cm
