Spruce Grouse Hat
- The Spruce Grouse Hat pattern has been updated to include new photos and yarn suggestions, an improved Crown shaping of the original Worsted-weight version, and now includes a new Bulky-weight version as well. Both versions have been fully test-knit by knitters with a wide range of knitting experience.
This pattern is written to fit an average adult’s head with a 20-22” (50-56 cm) circumference, but has enough stretch to fit larger heads as well. Though this hat is designed to be knit in one solid colour, the different textures that create the chevron pattern give it a subtle visual interest, resulting in a stretchy, cozy, comfortable hat. It is knit in the round from the bottom up using ribbing, stockinette, and my version of an elongated Chevron Stitch pattern; all combinations of simple knit and purl stitches, plus decreases (k2tog, p2tog, p3tog, and CDD) for the crown. A stitch chart as well as written directions are included. Two brim options are included with the Worsted-weight version; Basic Ribbed Brim and Ribbed Double Brim.
