SPUN SUGAR bowl with matching doily
Two sizes of bowls with matching doilies. Small bowl measures approx 5.5” diameter (across top) x 2.5” deep, and the matching doily measures approx 12” diameter. Large size bowl measures approx 10” diameter (across top) x 4” deep, and the matching doily measures approx 19” diameter.
Materials:
For small size:
Bedspread weight crochet cotton: 275 yds
Size 7 steel crochet hook (or size required for gauge)
For large size:
Heavy weight bedspread crochet cotton: 500 yds
Size 0 steel crochet hook (or size required for gauge)
Also required: commercial boilable starch or sugar-and-water starch for blocking the bowl into shape.
Gauge: First 6 rnds of doily,
for small size =a 3” diameter
for large size = 5” diameter
Centers of both pieces are worked in the round, edges are worked flat, back and forth in rows.
