Spunky Stripe
You will find this sweater to be really cosy and snug from the inside, yet bold and brash on the outside.
While you can use any worsted yarn (aran-weight to UK knitters), I used Feels Like Butta from Lion Brand. This has a ‘chenille look’ but without the trickiness that chenille sometimes poses. I tried to knit this one in chenille but just couldn’t find a range of colors that I liked.
Anyhow, this sweater feels truly comfy against my skin - partly because of the yarn, and partly because it is so fitted - body hugging, set-in sleeves and a close-fit neck!
I made the pattern in 8 sizes …
- The first PDF has American sizes and all dimensions are in inches.
- The second PDF has UK sizes and is written in cm.
Printing
DO NOT PRINT THE FULL INSTRUCTIONS - JUST PRINT THE PAGES FOR YOUR SIZE.
Firstly, use either
- US pattern in inches, or
- UK pattern in centimeters
Within your pattern
- the first page has pictures
- next three pages have measurements, gauge, notes, etc.
- after that there are separate instructions for each size, listed one size at a time. With 8 different sizes, just print the 3 pages for your own size.

Needles
One pair of US 6 (4mm) knitting needles.
One pair of US 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles.
Gauge / tension
Using US 7 (4.5mm) needles, 19 stitches and 30 rows will knit a 4” (10 cm) square in Stocking Stitch.
Knitting standard
The instructions are very clear - have a look at my other free patterns to see my style of pattern writing.
Construction
It is knitted as 4 individual pieces (back, front, 2 sleeves), from bottom up to the top.
Schematics
Each pattern size has a schematic (drawing with dimensions) for each of its pieces - Front, Back and Sleeves. I think that this makes it clearer to follow.
