A relaxed, slightly cropped, dolman-sleeve sweater designed and named after a very special yarn called ‘Spyhop’ made by my friend Sarah from her small flock on the San Juan Islands of Washington state.

Materials
Approximately 1330 (1410, 1470, 1575, 1610) (1805, 1725, 1870, 1930)yd / 1216 (1289, 1344, 1440, 1472) (1650, 1577, 1710, 1765)m of DK-weight yarn. I used Spyhop from San Juan Woolworks, a 3-ply Finn-cross lambswool which is both rustic and soft, with great drape. A little lanolin remains in the wool and there is some variation in thickness.

Gauge
19.5 sts & 30 rnds = 4”/ 10cm in stockinette after blocking, using size US 5 / 3.75mm needles

A stitch marker for beginning of round, tapestry needle for sewing in ends and seams, and a spare circular needle or scrap yarn for holding stitches.

CONSTRUCTION OVERVIEW
The sweater is worked bottom up, in the round, to the underarms, then front and back are worked flat separately. Short rows shape the back shoulders and neckline. After shaping the front neckline, front and back shoulder seams are joined. The double-layer neckband is worked in the round in 1x1 rib and sewn down inside. The dolman-shaped sleeves are worked top down and in the round to the cuffs, beginning with a short-row sleeve cap for most sizes. Sleeve cuffs are worked in 1x1 rib, then folded.

Sizing: This pattern is written for 9 sizes. The sweater is intended to be oversized with generous ease. Please swatch beforehand to check your sizing with your yarn/gauge.

Choosing a size: As the sides of the sweater body are open to the sleeves, which allows for a lot of flexibility in bust circumference, the key dimensions to ensure a good fit are the sweater’s cross back width and hem circumference.
