This is only slightly different from the original c2c pattern, this just has the placement of ch6 loops to create holes which form a pattern of squares. The smallest size blanket of 32 ins used 1 and half cakes of mandala but I used 2 cakes for a large version which measured 38ins.
As long as you keep checking your work to make sure you haven’t put a hole in a place it shouldn’t be it is a very easy pattern. (I have done this when just crocheting away and had to frog back to a point where there should have been no hole.)

If you want an very loose blanket go up a size of hook which will give bigger c2c blocks and bigger holes which will result in a much floppier item.
