Square Leaf Motif
When I found out my niece is obsessed with leaf shapes, I decided to develop a square motif using the Leaf Coaster pattern by Katherine Laight as the base/center shape. I’m planning to join a dozen or so of these squares into a small throw for her birthday early next year.
Skill Level
Beginner
Size
I used a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn, and the final blocked square is 7 inches on each side. Change up the hook size and yarn weight for smaller or larger squares (or add rounds to each square as desired).
Materials
• Two contrasting colors of yarn in the same weight
• Color 1 for the leaf pattern
• Color 2 for the square pattern
Additional Materials
• Crochet hook size 5mm (or size appropriate for your yarn)
• Yarn needle to weave in ends
