Great design to wear as a shell when its warm or put a blouse under it for cooler weather. This pattern comes in 4 designs, the basic Stockinette Stitch Shell, Mock Rib Shell, Lacy Shell and Drop Stitch Shell. The Mock Rib can me knitted for the entire length of the top as done with the Stockinette Stitch Option and the Lacy Pattern too.
It is mostly fitted except for the Drop Stitch Pattern, It is more relaxed than the other 3.
The design was done in a worsted weight yarn with a size 8 circular needle. The Arm Hole Bands and Neck Band are knitted into the design as you go. So there is no picking up of stitches after the garment is sewn together. You have the option of doing two different ways to Bind Off. One is to BO shoulder stitches and sewing them together later, or, place stitches on a 3rd needle and do a 3 Needle Bind Off once both pieces are completed.
I used Kraemer Perfections Tapas, It has a secondary strand of a colorful yarn spun into the main yarn to give it a little color definition that you can see in the closeup pictures. The average skein of worsted weight yarn usually has a put up of around 200 yards. The smaller sizes 28-32 need, based on this figure, 3 skeins and the larges sizes 34 needs 4 skeins and the 36-38 need 5 skeins.
