Square the Circle baby blanket is designed as a complement to the Prairie Sunshine baby set. Its delicate patterning will add a touch of decoration to any nursery – if not to another room in your home!

The blanket takes its name from its construction. It starts as a ring of chain crochet that is joined in the round and continued on four dpns, then successively longer circular needles. The “square” motif surrounds the centre in garter pattern. The piece is then worked as four repeating triangles, each centred with a cascading leaf pattern flanked by alternating stripes of st st, garter st and eyelets. “Squaring the circle” is achieved during the blocking process.

The pattern is written for fingering weight, but is adaptable to other weights and finished measurements. It includes written line-by-line instructions, a full-page chart, and a suggested online tutorial link for knitters unfamiliar with the crochet circle cast-on technique.
