The Squashed Frog Door Stopper (crochet frog door stop) is my original design.

I first posted photos of my frog on Pinterest in 2017 and suddenly, 6 years later, my little guy became a bit famous!

He was made as a joke for my son who seemed to have a talent for destroying door stoppers. This little guy has managed to survive.

When I first posted pictures of my designs online I used the name “Granny’s Crochet Lessons” as a shout out to my unbelievably patient grandmother, who taught me how to crochet when I was only 4 years old! She was an amazing woman!
More than 50 years later, it’s still my passion.

Delight your friends, coworkers, and family with this hilarious, unique crochet frog doorstop (soft sculpture).
With such a cheerful little face, it will even make you laugh as you are putting it together.

Let it hang out with you in your office, greet people at your front door, lounge around on your desk or hang off your shelf. It will surprise and delight almost everyone who bumps into it.

Easy step by step instructions with photos.

The whole project should take around 6 hours (depending on skill level).

Dimensions:
35.5 cm (14in) long, 14 cm (5.5in) wide at body

Materials:
3.4, 4, 5 mm crochet hooks
Safety eyes
A heavy ball for stomach insert 14 cm (5.5 in) in diameter (check out your local recycle center)
e.g. Bocce ball, lawn bowls ball, weight ball
stuffing
Fine/Sport grade yarn in red, yellow, white and black.
Fine/sport grade for green if using only one strand, super fine if using 2 strands for variegated colour finish.
I used 170 m (186 yds) of a ball of green yarn and the same for a ball of yellow and green variegated yarn for the frog parts, about 16.5 m (18 yds) of black for the mouth, 10 m (11 yds) of white for the eyes, and less than 6.5 m (7 yds) for both the yellow toe pads and red tongue.
