Squid
I designed this cute squid pattern based on a request from my 9 year old son who loves aquatic animals.
It’s simple to make up and is ideal for a small project or even a beginner.
Size
When made up, the squid is 13cm high and 5cm wide. The long tentacles are 12cm long.
Stitches needed (UK terms)
ch = chain
BLdc = double crochet through back loop only
dc = double crochet
dtr = double treble crochet
FLdc = double crochet through front loop only
FLdc2tog = double crochet 2 together through front loop only
htr = half treble crochet
inc = increase by dc into the same stitch again but this time through both loops
mc = magic circle
sl st = slip stitch

Colour 1: Paintbox Yarns, cotton aran, 100% cotton, 4.5mm
colour 656, Vintage pink, 11g OR
colour 643, Tea rose, 11g OR
colour 626, Spearmint green, 11g
Colour 2: Paintbox Yarns, cotton aran, 100% cotton, 4.5mm
colour 201, Pure black, short stand for eye detail
Colour 3: Paintbox Yarns, cotton aran, 100% cotton, 4.5mm
colour 601, Paper white, short stand for beak detail
Stuffing material: Recycled polyester fibre, 9g
Needles
3mm crochet hook
Large eye blunt yarn needle
All my designs are my own originals, based on cartoons or drawings.
I try to make them up with vegan-friendly and eco-friendly materials. The yarn is 100% cotton and the stuffing material is recycled. The eyes are made from yarn and not plastic safety eyes.
