Squishability Brioche Cowl
If any piece of knitting could be described as, “ooey-gooey goodness,” this cowl would be it! Named after a French pastry known for its decadent layers, brioche knitting allows you to create textures that are irresistible to the eye and the hand. What better way to show off all that warm and bouncy brioche goodness than a simple cowl in two easy-to-learn stitch patterns? This is a perfect project for two skeins of your favorite DK weight luxury yarn- the one so soft and colorful you want to bury your face in it. When finished, Squishability is cozy but lightweight, the perfect accessory for late autumn through early spring. Be prepared to knit another soon…you’re sure to get requests!
Notes:
Since this is not a closely fitted garment, gauge is simply a suggestion. Use the needle size that results in the most comfortable fabric.
Both stitch patterns used in this project work with any even number of stitches, so you can easily size this cowl up or down by adding or subtracting stitches from your CO in multiples of 2.
Brioche tends to spread horizontally, so your cast-on and bind-off should be nice and loose. If necessary, CO and BO using a needle 1 or 2 sizes larger than the needle you will use for the rest of the project.
