A soft and squishy shawl in a wonderfully soft yarn that sits like a hug on your shoulders - perfect for cuddling up in it and also a perfect gift for relatives and friends. With this shawl you can actually mail a hug!

The garter stitch pattern makes this an easy, relaxing knit, only the side border and the final lace require a little attention. The shawl and borders are all knitted in one piece, no picking up of stitches required.

This pattern calls for sport weight but can actually be made with any yarn, at any gauge. Just be aware that changing the yarn weight will change the size and/or amount of yarn required.
The pattern includes a list of different yarn weights (lace, fingering, and sport) and row counts to get the most out of one skein, based on my testknitters’ feedback.

The sample shawl used up an entire cake of the lovely Merino Baby Degradé by Katia (660 meters / 722 yards). The shawl has an easy 12-row repeat which allows you to customize the size to your liking - just by knitting more or less repeats. The pattern also gives easy-to-follow instructions how to get the right stitch count for the final lace border, no matter what size you decide to make.

You can also choose between small, medium and large border, so you really can knit until you run out of yarn.

Enjoy your Squishy Hug!
