The name of the pattern is made up from two words - square and rhombus, reflects on the pattern. Knitted from side to side squares, turned into multitude of rhombuses. To the desire of the knitter it could have multiple functions: poncho, shawl. The poncho is contained out of 2 parts (back and front). If the poncho would be connected by buttons, it could be unbuttoned any time and used as a shawl. It could be knitted in any desirable size by making more or less repeats. The pattern allows to utilize different scraps of yarn, which every knitter has plenty, and it would give a great character to the poncho. In this particular project one half was knitted in one color, and second half with contrasting stripes. The pattern itself is very simple, easy to memorize and after couple repeats the knitter does not need to be attached to the printed text, that would allow to watch your favorite TV show, take it in any trip or knit it in your favorite knitters circle, maintaining vivid conversation etc. Always in fashion, square pattern is enhanced by knitting it with contrast of stockinette and garter stitch divided diagonally by well expressed slip stitch.
For this particular project it was used Sueno DK yarn - beautiful blend of soft superwash Merino and viscose from bamboo. This yarn gives great expression of the pattern, the solid colors bring charming contrast and the quality of the yarn makes the garment last a lifetime.
