These socks have a padded sole, toe, and heel, worked toe-up with a flap and gusset heel. Specific instructions are given for one size of sock – women’s medium, worked in 8 ply yarn with 4mm needles – and general instructions for making socks to fit any foot, in whatever yarn is desired, using needles appropriate to the yarn chosen. Alternating two colours of yarn will produce a sock with the top of the foot, gusset, and back of the heel striped, the toe speckled, and the sole alternating stripes and speckles.
