I set about to make an Irish-inspired crafty project and settled on a wine bottle carrier, as it’s something that I actually often have a need for. I like to take my ukulele and a bottle to the local park when the weather is nice, but don’t necessarily like to advertise what I’m drinking. It’s not that I think the hoodlums are going to mug me for my Two Buck Chuck, it’s more like I want folks to think I’m drinking something fancier than Two Buck Chuck (I’m not). Why might you want to make a wine bottle carrier? To make room in your picnic basket for the vodka, of course.

This pattern uses both knit and crochet. The base and handles are crochet and the cabled body is knit.
