When I first met my great knitting friend/enabler Stacie, she was wearing a beautiful entrelac shawl and I’ve always associated that technique with her. How better to celebrate our friendship than to take that technique and skew it ever so slightly.

The Stacie shawl is a combination of triangles knit in a mosaic pattern using two contrasting colors, combined with lace panels worked in a third color. Both the mosaic and lace sections are simple repeating patterns. Each section is worked from the previous piece, joining as you go. Also included in the pattern is a schematic to help you more easily follow along with the flow of sections.

To knit this 3-color shawl, you begin in the center of the first triangle and work outward with two colors. Then the first lace panel is worked from half of the live stitches with the third color. From there, the rest of the shawl is worked in sections, each piece worked from the previous section.

The pattern includes written instructions as well as charts.

Finished size: 95” x 20” after blocking
Gauge: 20 sts + 28 rows after blocking
As with most shawls, gauge is not a deal breaker. Although variations in gauge can affect the amount of yarn used and final size.

For colors, use complimentary solid, tonal or lightly speckled yarns that will pop off each other.
