This hat is knit top-down with alternating lace and cable sections, ending with two inches of 3 x 2 ribbing. The optional pom-pom at the top adds an extra fun touch, especially when made from the same Malabrigo Rios yarn as the hat.

I have also made a version of this hat in Knit Picks Brava Worsted (the brown hat).

This pattern uses cable stitches, yarn overs, knitting front and back, and purling front and back. It contains both charted and written instructions.

Finished Measurements:

Depth: 11 inches

Width at brim: 13 inches around flat, but stretches very wide. Shown on a 22-inch head in the image on the front page.
