This is a second hat pattern for the annual hat project to benefit students of a local school. This beanie-style hat features a staggered brick effect. The ribbing is knit first using a smaller size needle and then continued with the larger needle to slightly relax the fit.

Circumference of the hat is 16” unstretched. And the hat measures 6” from cast-on edge to beginning of crown (where decreases begin). Suitable for a child in 3rd to 5th grade. Size of hat is easily adjusted for larger sizes by adding cast-on stitches in multiples of 9, and knitting additional rows in the body of the hat and adjusting the decreases for the crown of the hat.

The sample hat was knit using 2oz/56g of Red Heart Soft yarn in Deep Sea (5oz/141g, 256yds/234m per skein).

Quick and easy knit with enough texture for interest.
