Stained Glass Cowl
The cowl is created by casting on the circumference of the cowl provisionally, knitting one side, working a turning round, then working the other side. Once completed you will remove the provisional cast-on and place the beginning stitches on a circular needle. Folding the piece in half at the fold line, you will either graft the beginning stitches to the end stitches or work a three-needle bind-off.
There are many many color combinations you could use. I think it would be lovely in a pink variegated with a brown solid. Or how about a gradient set with black? Or black and white? The possibilities are almost endless. The inside is worked in a simpler pattern than the outside.
The pattern is written in detail, with links to demos of techniques needed, and the colorwork is charted in large easy-to-read charts.
Yarn Requirements:
Use two shades of smooth fingering weight yarn that contrast well with each other. You will need:
1000 yards of Color A (background)
800 yards of color B (foreground)
Waste yarn for provisional cast-on: use a smooth fingering weight in a color that contrasts well with Color A.
I used:
Color A (background): Wollmeise Pure (100% Merino), 150 grams/574 yards, Schwarz, 2 skeins
Color B (foreground): Wollmeise Pure (100% Merino), 150 grams/574 yards, Tiefer See, 2 skeins
