Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine has shook the world. It has had a devasting effect on the people of Ukraine and has left many of us feeling powerless. Trying to explain what is happening in the world today to two growing boys, while trying hard not to frighten them too much, is difficult. With media access at our finger tips, we are constantly reminded of the heart wrenching tragedies Ukranians are facing daily.

My 9 year old son asked me what it was we could do to help, so when Lovecrafts sent an appeal for patterns, I didn’t hesitate to give it a go!

The pattern includes the bunny, her dress, shoes and her tiny little peace dove (or peace duckling as my son called him!)

Yarn:
50g Sirdar Snuggly DK Biscuit (Light Brown)
I used exactly 50g, so unless you’re prepared to play yarn chicken (like me!), buy a little extra!
30g Sirdar Snuggly DK Oatmeal (Beige)
30g Sirdar Snuggly DK Sunshine (Yellow)
30g Sirdar Snuggly DK Soldier Blue (Blue)
A small amount of black yarn for the nose.

Needles:
3.5mm Straight needles

Other supplies:
Toy stuffing
Tapestry Needle
2 safety eyes (12mm)
1 small button
A holding needle or a spare 3.5mm needle
A crochet hook (to create a small loop to button up the dress)
A small twig with tiny leaves
A few stitch markers

Size:
35 cm

Abbreviations
x times: Knit the instructions between the brackets x amount of times.
* ; rep from * to end: Repeat the instructions between the * and ; until the end of the row.
st(s): stitch(es)
K: knit, if followed by a number, knit that amount of stitches
P: purl
St st: stocking stitch: alternate a row of knitting and a row of purling.
G st: garter stitch: knit every row
K2tog: knit two stitches together knitwise.
P2tog: purl two stitches together purlwise.
Kfb: knit in the front and back of the stitch, creating an increase.
Pfb: Purl in the front and back of the stitch, creating an increase.
