Stanley Cup Holder
This pattern is a holder for Stanley 40 oz cups. These cups exploded in popularity, but there is one major drawback to them… Having to carefully carry it upright the entire time you are out! I noticed my arthritis in my hands would flare after a long walk with my cup and decided to create a solution. This pattern creates a holder that keeps your cup upright and near you at all times with both hands remaining free.
This pattern is only one size, as it was created specifically for the 40 oz Stanley tumbler.
You will need:
G (4.25 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle
1 Skein of variegated worsted weight yarn of your choice (I used Red Heart Super Saver in the color “Monet”)
1 Skein of accent worsted weight yarn of your choice (I used Red Heart Super Saver in the color “Medium Purple”)
As you can see in the above pictures, the holder does stretch a fair bit while wearing if made from 100% Acrylic yarn. You could try the pattern with another type of yarn (like 100% cotton or hemp) to reduce stretching. Personally, I feel the stretching does not limit the utility of the cup nor bother me aesthetically. The image on the right is the holder after many days and hours of wear, so the holder does spring back to its original shape fairly well.
