A scarf that I knit for my father, Stan Hayes, is the inspiration for the Stan Scarf. Dad liked having a wool scarf to wrap around his shoulders to keep his neck warm. The first Stan Scarf had stripes on both ends and was a deep brown with dull gold stripes. Those colors worked with the plaid shirts that Dad wore and gave him a spiffed up look in his later years.

The look has been updated with a basic stripe in neutral colors. That’s the Stan’s Standard variation.

Then there is the Stan’s Pride version that draws on the Roy G. Biv (R-O-Y-G-B-I-V) colors the the rainbow genomic -- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Each variation has a garter stitch end and seven sets of stripes with 24 rows of solid ribbed pattern stitch.

In addition, this six page pattern has over 15 photos, a step by step how-to for cable cast on, hint boxes, tips for weaving in ends, needles to use, and more.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. The scarf is an easy knit that’s fun and quick.

Happy knitting,

Wanda
