I designed this hat using the Roanoke Star as my inspiration. The Roanoke Star sits on top of Mill Mountain just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Roanoke, Virginia. Our star is the largest man-made, free-standing, illuminated star in the world! It is lit every night. The colors of the star have changed over the years. It now glows white each night, but it is changed to red, white, and blue for special occasions. It can be seen throughout the valley and is the most wonderful “Welcome Home!” when you return from a trip.
This hat is knit from the brim up working in the round. Skills used in this pattern: ribbing, stockinette, right and left lifted increases (video tutorial), decreases, short rows, and double stitches (video tutorial). The star is worked using stripes- no colorwork! Enjoy the knit!
