Catch a star in a Jar!

This ball ornament is based on my Star Snowflake pattern. The bauble is made by joining two star snowflakes together as you go. A smaller 5-point star is knitted and blocked separately, then when the bauble is ready, it is placed inside and attached to the top of the bauble.

How difficult is this project? It is easier than it looks. Begin with knitting a smaller 5-point star. If you can make it, you will be able to complete the entire project successfully.

You will need:
Size 10 crochet cotton
4 - US 0 (2 mm) dpns - for the bauble
4 – US 00 (1.75 mm) dpns – for the small star
A sewing needle
A small (9”) balloon
Stiffener

Techniques used: k, yo, multiple yarn overs, k2tog, kfb, knitted cast on, bind off

Note: Originally the instructions said to use a cable cast on (CCO) method to cast on stitches to create points of the star, I changed that now to knitted cast on (KCO) because that is the method I actually used but was not aware of the difference. You can still use cable cast on method if you prefer.

«Звезда в банке» - оригинальное новогоднее украшение, связанное спицами. Украшение - шарик создается путем соединения двух снежинок, связанных на основе моего описания «Снежинка-Звезда». Снежинки соединяются при закрытии петель второй снежинки, сшивать детали не придется! Внутрь шарика помещается 5-конечная звёздочка меньшего размера, связанная отдельно.
