This project is a knitted homage to that classic group activity, quilting. The individual pieces are knit to size, using different stitches to provide subtle interest. For a bolder effect, vary the colors for each piece.
The pillow would make an excellent housewarming or wedding gift, or it could provide a taste of home to a college student going off to the dorms. For a more ambitious project, a group could create several of these squares to make an afghan or blanket. Afghans make excellent charity projects, whether they are donated or auctioned.
