> Star Squared

Star Squared
From above it looks like a star; from the side it looks like a square. Whatever shapes you see, this colorful beanie is sure to brighten up a winter’s day!
Each square motif is worked separately and then grafted into a ring to form the hat band. The crown and brim are worked in the round using the live stitches of the squares. The only cast-off edge is the bottom of the brim.
With variegated or “self-striping” sock yarn, this hat looks like it takes a lot of planning and color changes, but instead you just knit in the round with one skein of yarn.
Experience level/techniques: Some experience recommended. Techniques used: grafting (kitchener stitch); knitting in the round.
