Star Wars Rebel Beanie Hat
This is a great pattern for learning to read charts for color work. I include both written and chart directions in the pattern. You’ll need double pointed needles, two colors of yarn, and for stitches, you only need to know cast on, knit, purl, and how to knit two stitches together.
You’ll want to pick out two contrasting colors in similar DK weight yarn. You’ll need about 25g (~50-75 yards) of your contrast color (red) and 30-50g (100-150 yards) of your main color (black). I used Berroco Renew DK weight yarn in the pictured hat.
Getting started:
Cast on using a stretchy cast-on (Small 108, Medium/Large 128) using your smaller needle (US 2). The pictured hat was cast on using long tail cast on (128 st) for the medium/large size. Next rib knit (k2, p2) for 1.5 to 4 inches, depending if you want your brim folded or not. My hat has 15 stitches for the brim. Change to your larger needle (US 4) and follow the chart or written directions.
May the force be with you as you knit up this fun Rebel beanie!
