Starbrella Shawl
PDF crochet pattern - Starbrella Shawl!
This pattern is an easily-memorized, take-with-you-wherever-you-go project. A wonderfully simple, modern design that shows off amazing yarns! A very wearable shawl when finished.
Included in the pattern are 2 versions - one that is half-moon-shaped that drapes nicely over your shoulders (photo #1) and one that has extended sides for more overlap in the front for using a pin or tucking into your coat (photo #2).
This pattern is designed so it starts out small and gets larger as you go, working into a half-moon style shawl with beautiful points that radiate outwards. It can be made any size from a scarf/shawlette size to a full-sized wrap-around-the-body shawl.
It is perfect for colour-change yarns, specifically Moca Cotton fingering colour-change yarn, which has colour changes that gradually get bigger as it goes along, too. You can work this shawl the given number of rows or until you run out of yarn!
Lots of colourways of Moca Cotton are available here in my shop!
If you run out of yarn and your shawl is not as big as you would like it, you can add a different colour on the end which will create a contrast stripe – a very nice design element.
The name? As I was working on this, it looked very much like a starburst. However, as I was photographing it, my son came along and said, “It looks like there is an umbrella.” Sure enough, when held up as in the photographs, the eyelets form an umbrella! And so, Starbrella was born!
