Do you have that precious skein of self-striping yarn that is simply too pretty to be used for socks? Well, here is the ideal pattern for it! Bright, cheerful and fun-to-make!

Starburst is an asymmetrical triangular shawl with the bright modular-knit center. All elements of the shawl are knit-on; there’s no seams or sewing required.

Materials:
This modular pattern can be knit with absolutely any yarn/circular needles combination. The only suggestion is to use circular needles with sharp metal tips; that will make picking up stitches a lot easier.

For the shawl as pictured, you will need:

  • 100 g (400 m) of selfstriping yarn. I used leftovers of Vesper sock.

  • 50g (200m) of bright blue

  • 100 g (400m) of light blue

  • tapestry needle

Gauge: With fingering-weight yarn and 2.5mm needles, one star measures 16cm across. The shawl is 180cm wide, drops 67 cm.
