Starburst Scrap Cowl
This pattern is a part of an original pattern I designed called Heirloom Crochet Cowl which had four parts. This is the first part, which is minorly complicated, for which reason I have included a link to the video.
You can make 3 different sizes based on this pattern. The first is meant to be a single cowl that will not loop around, and simply fit over your head in order to snuggle your neck.
The second and third options will loop around twice and three times, respectively. These are meant to be warmer and bulkier options for those who live through colder climates!
I used an aran weight yarn for the first sample (Mecha) and following I used several worsted weights or chunkies depending on my mood. They all worked wonderfully, I just used a SMALLER hook for the bigger yarn and a LARGER hook for the smaller yarn. This in turn made the thinner/smaller yarn more lacy looking and made the thicker yarn even more thick and bulky. You can adjust gauge if you prefer.
If you like the look of more than one color you can of course use scraps and leftovers, different skein colors, or simply color-changing yarn. I will probably have samples of all three of these eventually in the projects.
Enjoy!
