Meet STARDUST, a collaboration with Crux Fibres

A stranded colourwork, slightly slouchy hat with a double brim for extra coziness. We are also using two different yarn TYPES as well as colours! A smooth DK weight and a fluffy suri alpaca ❤ for extra textural interest and a super cozy hat.

Constructed from the double-brim up, I’ve included a picture tutorial for extra guidance on how to join the brim. The colourwork is presented in an easy to read chart and is a short and intuitive repeat…perfect for even a beginner to colourwork.

I’ve offered the pattern in 5 sizes with guidance on where to add or subtract length to customize your fit. A pompom tops off STARDUST beautifully…and actually helps to weigh down the incredible loft of the suri, to give you that casual, slightly slouchy profile.

Skills Required
Provisional cast-on, knit, purl, decreasing, stranded colour-work, working in the round using circular needles, dpns and/or magic loop.

Materials
Suggested Yarn
1 x 100g, 380m/246yd skein Crux Fibres, Pure Crux BFL DK, 100% untreated BFL, in colour Beaver Lodge (C1).

1 x 50g, 300m/328yd skein Crux Fibres, Pure Crux Suri, 75% Baby Suri Alpaca/25% Silk, lace weight, in colour Provence (C2).

Yardage:
DK: 80yds, 100yds, 130yds, 160yds, 180yds
Suri: 50yds, 60yds, 80yds, 130yds, 130yds

Suggested Needles: 3.75mm/US 5 circular needles 40cm/16” length, and 4mm/US 6 circular needles 40cm/16” length AND 80cm/32” length OR 4mm/US 6 double points for crown decreases.

Notions: Darning needle, stitch marker, scrap yarn, crochet hook, an extra circular needle, size 4mm/US 6 or smaller to pick up your provisional cast on, pompom if desired.

Gauge - 22 sts and 30 rounds/10cm or 4” in the round, in both st st and stranded colour-work.

Size 1: 40cm/16” circumference at brim, 18cm/7” length from crown to brim. To fit 40cm/16”-46cm/18” head circumference (baby/toddler)
Size 2: 45cm/17.5” circumference at brim, 20cm/8” length from crown to brim. To fit 45cm/17.5”-51cm/20” head circumference (4-10yrs)
Size 3: 48cm/19” circumference at brim, 23cm/9” length from crown to brim. To fit 48cm/19”-53cm/21” head circumference (Teen/Small Adult)
Size 4: 51cm/20” circumference at brim, 25cm/10” length from crown to brim. To fit 51cm/20”-56cm/22” head circumference (Medium Adult)
