This tile is crocheted in mosaic overlay technique, in the round. This implies that there are no numerous ends to fasten off, just two for each color used. The nicest results are obtained by using contrasting colors

My main goal with this pattern is to demonstrate the technique of overlay mosaic crochet in the round, to teach you the necessary stitches to create these wonderful tiles, and specifically to make you familiar with different kinds of slanted double crochet stitches.

Stardust is made in 20 rounds, starting with a magic circle. Stitches used are (all in US terms): slip stitch, chain stitch, half double crochet, single crochet in back loop only, double crochet in front loop only, slanted double crochet.

Each tile that is made with DK weight yarn (115-130 m per 50 g skein) will measure about 25 cm and weigh about 50-55 g.

Acrylic yarns, cottons or a mixed fiber all will work well.

The pattern includes a chart, written instructions and photos to illustrate certain stitches or techniques. It also has links to video tutorials for those who need more information than the pattern provides.

Have fun with this technique!
