This design was originally created for a very special individual. During the designing phase it began to evolve into something much larger and significant, and much more personal. During the testing phase this ‘evolution’ continued to grow, resulting in ‘StarFlower Protean’!! I thought I’d share the “meaning” of its name. ‘StarFlower’ is associated with many things, the following is a list of its attributes that caught my attention: courage, optimism, heavenly grace, lifts the spirits, and ‘faithful friend through life’s difficult challenges and times’. The definition of ‘Protean’: able to change into many different forms.

The StarFlower Protean design can be worked into various projects!! You can use any weight of yarn desired and have the option of working 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 points for versatility! Within this pattern instructions are included for a blanket, rug, doily, placemat/centerpiece, trivet/hotpad/potholder, wash/dish cloth, and pillow (including how to make a ‘custom’ pillow insert). Any of these projects can be worked in the number of points you desire. This design is very versatile and can be worked numerous times, each with varying results depending on how many points you choose, fiber selection, and color and/or striping choice.

The texture in this design truly makes it stand out. It also adds great ‘squishiness’ to your project.
