Starlet Mosaic Blanket
This overlay mosaic crochet pattern was inspired by 1930s/ 40s glamour and art deco motifs. The pattern file has five designs included - they can be combined in a range of orders/ variations. All include a chart and written instructions, with options for both right and left-handed crocheters.
These are fairly simple patterns suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet. If you are new to mosaic crochet patterns, I have included some basic instructions and photos, and links for some of my favourite video tutorials (videos were not made by me but are my recommendations for crocheters who find these helpful).
I give some ideas for making a blanket or cushion cover, but the repeated mosaic patterns could also be used for a table runner or wall hanging, amongst many other possibilities.
All the patterns repeat every 16 stitches across so they can be combined and used in projects in a wide range of sizes.
I used DK weight (group 3) yarn, Stylecraft Special DK in soft peach, burgundy, boysenberry, vintage peach & blush. For my blanket, 40” / 100cm wide x 40” / 100cm tall, I used approximately 1620 metres/ 1,770 yards/550g color A (background) yarn, and 1,180 metres/ 1,290 yards/400g color B (pattern).
I’d love to see what you make!
