STARRY NIGHT C2C Graphghan

The Starry Night crocheted blanket is based on a graphghan and uses the corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet technique, rendering a beautiful blanket resembling Van Gogh’s famous painting.

The download is a 27 page PDF which includes detailed directions, a colored graphghan chart, two printer-friendly charts (one large and one small), written row-by-row directions, and links to helpful videos.

Sizing

It can be made in a range of sizes of throw blankets, larger or smaller by varying the type of C2C crochet used and your hook size. Using a 5mm hook, the smallest size is about 29” x 42” using the extra-mini C2C method, and the largest size is about 42” x 62” using the classic C2C method.

Difficulty

The beauty of this blanket is in the colors. There are LOTS of color changes. This blanket is not for beginners. This pattern is for intermediate to advanced crocheters, and not recommended for anyone new to C2C crochet. Before making this blanket, you need to have an organized system for handling projects with multiple colors of yarn, be competent with color changes, carrying yarn, and ok with weaving in lots of ends. This blanket is tedious, but its beauty makes it worth the effort!

Yarn

The pattern is written using Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn.” You’ll need yarn in 15 different colors. Good ol’ fashioned cheap acrylic, worsted weight yarn is recommended for this project, as it is long lasting, it comes in the necessary multitude of colors and it is very cost effective. It won’t shrink or stretch in the wash. The blanket pictured was made with acrylic, worsted weight yarn. Any type of yarn suitable for a throw blanket that comes in 15 comparable colors should work well. This pattern will produce a great looking blanket even if the colors you use are not exactly the same as the suggested.
