These placemats are made with Tunisian crochet in the round - double-ended Tunisian crochet hook required! They use alternating Tunisian honeycomb stitch and regular crochet star stitch to create a unique visual and textured effect. They are simpler than they look and all techniques are explained with photos and links to detailed instructional videos. The pattern contains 2 full sets of instructions, one for fingering/sport weight and one for worsted weight, so you can use almost any cotton you have in your stash, but the lighter weights will create a light-weight placemat and take longer to work up. The gauge and approximate finished measurements are given for each yarn weight. With worsted weight craft cotton such as Dishie or Bernat, the finished measurements are 47x30 cm (18.5 x 12 inches).
